There is a big buzz around my house these days. As the afternoon sun warms the earth the mason bees become very active. They are great pollinators but produce no honey and because of that they are very slow to agitate. While they may look like normal honey bees these guys rarely sting so walking through a small swarm is something I do on a daily basis and after living in this home for almost six years I have never been stung.
I hope to get more pictures of them as time goes on but for now here are my favorite shots of my seasonal friends.
