2011, Day 199 - Tattered

With a lifespan measured in days some of the butterflies we saw on Friday were looking a little beat up.  It is a little sad but when you remember that they are safe from predators it becomes apparent that most of these worn little fellows have outlived their wild brethren.  So as they flit from flower, to leaf to your shoulder if you listen carefully they will tell you a story of past glories and feasts of endless nectar.
