This is a photo taken a few months ago when the grape hyacinths were blooming. They are one of the earlier blooming plants and, along with the crocus, are the harbingers of warmer weather. We're beginning to see the first signs of autumn as the days grow shorter and the nights cooler. It is a change that I'm ready for even if it means a general lack of exciting flora for a while.
