Sometimes things don't go as planned. This photo was taken with Brian, Nicole, and Brian as we tried to find a waterfall we had heard about. Unfortunately bad directions left us off course so we made the best of the scenery at hand. When I first looked at this tributary I almost didn't take the picture because I didn't like the bridge but the more I looked at it the more I liked the juxtaposition between the natural and the artificial. There isn't a lot of color, it is subtle but I like the mellow red tones in the trees and the vibrance of the moss with the cool silky blue of the alpine waters.

2012, Day 307 - Farewell
Today I leave for Cambodia with my friends Brian, Nicole, Araceli, and Francene. I am so excited and have gone over my packing list countless times. Now it is time to grab my bags and jump on a plane. When I return the leaves will probably be gone and fall will have left. I am glad I got to see a little color while it lasted.

2012, Day 303 - Anchored
Another photo from my adventure at Cedar Creek with Brian Matiash, Nicole S Young, and Brian Bonham. It was worth braving the rain because the light was so soft and seemed to highlight all the color in the leaves. Those unchanged by fall's touch were dark and helped to provide a sense of depth. I love that the leaves are dotting the rocks, they provide nice highlights in otherwise dark details.

2012, Day 301 - Mothballed
Today I had the dubious honor of being stuck in a confined space with Brian Matiash, Nicole S. Young, and Brian Bonham. Fortunately it was only a short drive out to Cedar Creek and the historic grist mill. The weather was rather awful, at best it was drizzling and at worst it was pouring down on us, but we are stubborn people, photographers, and did our best to ignore the wet. I guess we can be grateful that it was relatively warm but the chill seeps in when you're wet.
Ultimately we had a lot of fun, ran up and down the creek, stopped for a bit to eat, made fun of each other. That is what weekends are about; friends, adventure, food and photography!

2012, Day 274 - Arctic stream
I awoke this morning a little chilly and discovered I grabbed an extra blanket in the middle of the night. Fall's arrival can't come quickly enough, I am worried that with my travels plans that I might miss it and will have to wait another year to see the spectacular foliage display. Until then I will think back on my adventures of last winter as consolation should my fears come true.

2010, Day 17 - Woods in Estacada
While out in Estacada today I had the opportunity to explore a little wooded area along a seasonal creek bed.
