2010, Day 129 - Post-op puppy

I wrote about Darby yesterday, he's a retired racing greyhound and last fall he broke his leg. At the time they took a small sample of the bone to test for evidence of cancerous intrusion but it came back negative. A couple weeks ago he showed an unusual growth right at the point where the break happened and this time they amputate the leg to stop the spread of the cancer discovered at the site. Bone cancer is so hard to detect and progresses so quickly but they caught it early and here is Darby, two days post-op looking great! I love this sweet guy.

  1. Darby is our pride-and-joy. He's our first greyhound and he will always have a huge place in our hearts...so we will do anything and everything to keep him happy and comfortable. Thank you Jeff for the amazing work you do for these lovely animals and for possessing a extraordinary knack for matching hounds with humans.
