When out in the country we saw baskets of fish like these left out in the sun. I suspect not for long, just until the skin starts to wrinkle but while the scales still reflect light. They remind me of canned sardines, I am sure after a day in the hot sun the flesh is tender and delicate enough to fall off the fine bones. Maybe they would be tasty with a little lime, salt, and chili flakes.
