This tall glass of son-of-a-bitch is my trainer. For the past year and a half be has been thinking up inventive ways to abuse me into gaining strength and I've certainly felt the benefits. Yes, I am still built like a teapot, short and stout but that is a battle against my natural predisposition. So for eighteen months he has been miscounting my reps to punish me and torturing me with "one more set." The gym just redid their website and I didn't care for his picture so I took my camera and, arms straining to lift my camera after a tough workout, I made him pose for a few pictures. There is a skylight in the warehouse-like space so I made him stand under it for this shot.

2014, Day 92 - Available light
I know I've taken pictures of this pose many times before but rarely under these conditions. After I cleaned up the kitchen this evening I walked into the living room and found Hubert laying on the floor patiently waiting for me in front of an old electric heater that was converted into a lamp. It contains a single sixty watt bulb and I liked the quality of the light. Fortunately there is always a camera near to hand in my house so I mounted my favorite fast lens and took a few pictures. This is my favorite, I love the look of his eyes, it conveys well his avid watchful nutty personality.

2011, Day 022 - Scowl
I love this photo not because it is a genuine reflection of the subject but because it conveys a mood. After having an afternoon snack with Deanna I asked her to stand for a portrait. Initially she was smiling and being her normal effervescent self and I interjected a little direction. "Look serious" was my request and this is the grumpy serious scowl I got. It's awesome!

2010, Day 342 - Gollum
This is my nephew Orion and while I am disappointed that he doesn't have a vestigial tail or a cone head he does make a lot of great faces. The first photo is my favorite because he looks like Gollum from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. I think it's the slightly evil grin coupled with his snaggle teeth, it's just perfect. The second photo is Orion giving his angry speech in attempt to get the workers of the world to overthrow the government. Finally, the last photo shows Orion doing his impression of a bird. He's a really happy baby and while I tend not to enjoy juicy human larvae he's kind of fun...

2010, Day 337 - Nuptials
Today the daughter of my friend Chris got married. Just like when Chris got married a couple months ago, her daughter Ashley married her fiancée at the courthouse although it has to be said that the Multnomah County Courthouse is much nicer than that of Clackamas County.
I really enjoy these weddings; short and to the point so the focus can be on the celebration after the ceremony. With less than twenty people it was great, I got to meet all the closest friends and family who attended. Congratulations Ashley and Chris Epping!
