The sun came out today and was I was walking out the door I discovered a friend on the window sill. As I was making a desperate attempt to be productive I made use of the camera closest to me which happened to be my iPhone. I fired up my favorite app and this is the result. I exported it to Photoshop just touch up the colors and add a little bit of sharpening but otherwise it is straight out of the camera, err, phone. The camera on the latest iPhone is admittedly impressive.

2012, Day 83 - Rendezvous
This morning I had the pleasure of meeting up with Christianna Pierce to deliver her prize for being one of the finalists in the first PDX G+ Photowalk. As she was ordering her coffee at Stumptown I noticed the light on the worn wood floors. It was the texture that really caught my eye and amid the bustle of a busy coffee house with milk frothing, cups clinking, people chatting there was a moment of peace and I took my photo.
When Christianna returned with her coffee she asked what I was taking a picture of and I showed her the photo as I was processing it in Snapseed. I didn't know that she is one of the curators of iPhoneography Friday but she encouraged me to submit it so that is what I am doing. It wasn't until this iteration of the iPhone that I really took note of the quality of the camera. While it can't do what my DSLR can it is a very usable, portable, and effective camera.

2012, Day 71 - Limits
Today's photo outing was all about working within your limits. I rousted Brian Matiash from his apartment and, at his suggestion, we went on an iPhone only photo walk. Being a bit of a pessimist I brought a real camera with me in case I got annoyed working within the iPhone's limits but I managed not to take it out at all. There is a great feeling of accomplishment when you are able to overcome limitations, even if they are self-imposed, to get results that show no evidence of compromise.
Both of the photos below were taken with SmugMug's Camera Awesome iPhone app and processed with Camera Awesome and Nik Software's Snapseed.

2010, Day 231 - Proudly presenting...
my new baby, Johan! He's a Oklahoma farm boy who just moved to Portland and joined my two dopey boys. Johan is a very sweet guy whose calm and patient demeanor has won him a lot of points from Hubert, my resident wacko whose high energy and puppy enthusiasm could be problematic for other dogs. Today is day three and so far, other than a little anxiety when I leave and a minor drinking problem (see below), Johan has been a perfect angel.

2010, Day 194 - Fallen star
Another candle went out this evening we my friend Rachel had to let her precious girl Cheyenne go to the Rainbow Bridge. The last couple months have been quite difficult for Cheyenne and a dislocated hip was the last of a long list of ailments. I was honored to be with Rachel and Cheyenne all evening and to be present when she left us.
I met Rachel is law school and we were the people who brought our dogs to class most often. Back then I had my boy Falcon and he loved Cheyenne. Rachel and I would sit in the back of class and our dogs would lay down side-by-side throughout the lecture. It's kind of sweet to think that they're together again and I am sure Boo is there as well making sure that no one forgets him.
