2014, Day 192 - Canes

Hostas are sometimes known as August lilies because they bloom in the late summer.  We're at the beginning of another heat wave and it is going to be intense.  Odd that plants that I think of as preferring cool shady places should flower during the heat of the summer.  While toxic to dogs, cats, and horses they are often eaten by deer who seem to show no ill effects from consumption.
