The wonderful thing about living in Portland that is that you aren't exposed to the unbearable heat with the same regularity as the rest of the country. Unfortunately that leaves all of us that much less acclimated to their spikes in temperature. Today started off with light cloud cover but as I drove west the protective blanket shielding the worst of the sun's effects disappeared and I started my 10km run.
Fortunately the nights have been cool and I had the benefit of a nice mild start. Sadly my recent foray into crossfit left me slightly crippled so I wasn't able to perform at my peak which is, as yet, rather unimpressive. Nevertheless I ran, walked, and jogged until I crossed the finish and when I was done and driving back into Portland my clouds returned and stayed for a few hours longer until I had myself fed and the dogs exercised. It was a lovely day.
