2012, Day 227 - Terrestrial coral

This is a juniper that was growing the high desert of central Oregon.  It is amazing how an image can bring to mind the sounds and scents of a place.  I can smell the sharp sweet scent of the juniper, the dust in the air, feel the dry air of my face.  I liked the texture more than anything in this image so I thought that it would be best highlighted by heavy desaturation, a heightened contrast, and a little vignetting.
