2012, Day 232 - Waiting for a change

I found this little guy on my walk with the dogs.  He was crawling along the fence as we came into the yard so after the dogs were settled I went back out with a model release and we sat down for a little studio session.  I have had extension tubes for years but I rarely use them, it just seems like an inconvenience, but this little critter was quite small and I needed greater magnification so I stacked both of them to close the distance.

When we were kids we had this delusion that caterpillars were cute but up close they are rather monstrous.  Beady little eyes, long hairs, sharp mouth mandibles, a humpback, really they are rather strikingly ugly.  Still, it was a fun test of my macro lens coupled with extension tubes.
